Keep live learning active
Vary the activity when it helps learners process or apply an idea. Use short explanations, demonstrations, reflection, and discussion deliberately throughout an explainx session.

Choose the activity for the task
After a demonstration, ask learners to predict a result or identify a mistake. Before a discussion, give them quiet time to write an answer. Use small-group work only when the task benefits from comparing approaches.
Make instructions visible
Explain what learners should do, how long they have, and what they will share afterward. Provide a text version of the prompt so participants can refer back to it. Offer ways to contribute without speaking on camera.
Observe and adjust
Look for evidence of understanding in the work and questions. Slow down when a prerequisite is missing. Avoid changing activities merely to fill the agenda; each transition should help learners reach the session’s outcome.
