Use your explainx classroom
Find current and past classrooms, choose a chat channel, and understand messages, materials, and access.
In this article
Your classroom is the private chat for one explainx workshop run. Sign in with the account you enrolled with, then open My classrooms and select the run. The page lists Current and Past classrooms separately.
Find the right channel
The sidebar opens the selected classroom's channels. Use #general for introductions and progress, #doubts for questions, and the matching #day-N channel for a session's work. #prompts holds reusable instructor prompts; #updates holds class reminders, schedule changes, recordings, and instructor announcements. Instructors can rename channels or add others.
On a phone, use Open channels or swipe in from the left edge. Unread dots help you find new messages; reading a channel updates your account's read position across devices.
Join the conversation
Type a message without a title. On a computer, Enter sends and Shift+Enter adds a line; on a phone, use the send button. Use Reply to quote a message in the channel or Reply in thread for a focused follow-up. You can react with an emoji and edit your own messages.
Type @ to find a classmate by name or username, or # to choose a clickable channel reference. See classroom messages and replies for details.
Members' links outside explainx and text imported from .txt files wait for instructor or moderator review. Your pending message is visible to you and classroom staff. Ordinary photos can be attached or pasted; read sharing classroom photos.
Open materials and member details
Recordings and Resources in the classroom header open the run's workshop dashboard. Use Pinned messages for important channel messages and Members to see online classmates and community scores. Select a person's name or photo to open their profile card.
Understand access and continue learning
Classroom access depends on your enrollment or staff role. A cancelled run’s classroom is read-only. A classroom removal blocks its chat while workshop recordings and resources remain in your dashboard. Public Questions and help comments are visible outside your cohort; follow the community guidelines.
A teacher community has separate membership. A linked free community offers Join in the sidebar; paid communities use their membership options. An instructor can also add the class to a free community. See joining a teacher community.
