# Have useful conversations with potential learners

Use a short conversation to understand a learner’s work and whether your explainx workshop can help. Start with their recent experience, then discuss the proposed learning outcome.

## Prepare the conversation

Explain the purpose and length of the call. Ask permission before recording or keeping identifiable notes. Prepare a few open questions rather than a long pitch.

## Explore a real task

Ask what they were trying to do, how they approached it, and where they needed help. Follow up on concrete details. Show a sample exercise and ask whether it resembles their work.

## Close honestly

Summarize the need you heard. If the workshop fits, share the confirmed page and prerequisites. If it does not, explain why. Send only the follow-up you agreed to, and remove confidential details from any curriculum notes. Several conversations should inform a decision; one enthusiastic call is not a complete validation.
