# Identify the learner your workshop serves

Define your workshop audience by the work people do, their starting skills, and the obstacle they face. A precise audience makes the examples and prerequisites easier to choose.

## Describe a real situation

Write down a typical task, current approach, available tools, and desired result. For example, a support lead reviewing drafted replies needs different exercises from a developer building an integration.

## Set the starting level

List observable prerequisites: account access, familiarity with a tool, or ability to complete a basic task. Avoid relying on labels such as beginner or expert without explanation.

## Test the description

Ask a potential learner to read the audience section and explain whether the workshop fits. If they cannot decide, add a concrete example and clarify what is outside the scope. Use the same audience description in the workshop page, welcome message, and exercises so the experience matches the invitation.
