# Bring run students into your communities

Open **Manage run** and find the **Communities** panel to connect students with communities you own or teach in. You can link a community to the classroom or add the run's current students as members.

## Choose the community

The Communities panel lists communities you own or teach in. Check the run and community names before acting, especially if you teach several cohorts or use different communities for different topics.

Choose a community that fits the students' work. The two actions have different effects: linking gives students a place to join from the classroom, while adding students creates membership right away.

## Link it to the classroom

Select **Link to classroom** to make the community appear in that run's classroom sidebar. Students then have a one-click **Join** action there.

Use this when you want students to find the community from their classroom and join it themselves. Linking the community is separate from adding every student as a member.

## Add all current students

Select **Add all students** to add every current student of the run as a community member immediately, subject to these limits:

- Existing members are unaffected.
- People a moderator removed are not re-added.
- Paid communities are excluded, so the action does not give paid access for free.

The action applies to the run's current students. It does not promise membership for students who enroll later. Review the current run before using it rather than assuming it covers every cohort of the workshop.

## Check your teaching role

Community creation is available only to instructors, admins, and owners. Read [Instructor roles and classroom badges](/help/articles/instructor-roles-and-badges) if you need to understand how a classroom badge relates to instructor assignment.
