# Connect your classroom to a community

As an instructor, you can link a community you run from the classroom sidebar. Students then get a one-click **Join** option. You can also use **Add all students** for a linked community.

## Understand the classroom badges

The instructors for a workshop run show an **Instructor** badge in that run's classroom. Everyone else shows **Member**. Use the badge to help students recognize who is teaching their run when they read messages and replies.

The badge describes someone's place in that classroom. When introducing yourself, tell students which class days you are teaching and where they should post questions. Direct those questions to **#doubts**.

## Link a community you run

Open the classroom sidebar and choose **Link a community**. Link a community that you run, then explain to students what you plan to discuss there. On a phone, open the sidebar with the menu button first.

Students can use the one-click **Join** option to join the linked community. Tell them where to find it in the sidebar when you introduce it during class, so they can take that step themselves.

## Add the class to a linked community

Instructors can choose **Add all students** for a linked community. Check which community you have linked before using this action, and let students know where you will continue the conversation.

Only instructors, admins, and owners can create communities. Students with member access cannot create one. If you run a community for continued practice, explain its purpose before connecting it to a class.
