Owners and instructors can schedule events inside a community. Members can see the event details, RSVP, and open the meeting link. Use events for office hours, project reviews, or a group discussion at a specific time.

## Schedule an event

1. Open your community and select **Events**.
2. Open **Schedule an event** and enter an **Event name**.
3. In **What will happen?**, explain the agenda and any preparation members need.
4. Set **Starts** and **Ends**. The form shows your browser’s local time zone. Check that zone and both dates before saving; the end must follow the start.
5. Add a full HTTPS **Meeting link** from your meeting provider, then select **Schedule event**.

The saved event displays its time zone. The meeting link is visible only to community members, but access settings at the meeting provider are separate. Check those settings before the session. explainx lists the event and links to the meeting; it does not host the video call.

## RSVP and join

Members open Events and select **I’m going** on an event. **Cancel RSVP** removes their response. RSVPing records attendance intent; it does not add the session to a personal calendar or send an automatic reminder.

At the scheduled time, open the event’s meeting link. If the external meeting asks for permission or will not open, contact the host. A community RSVP does not override that provider’s restrictions.

## Edit or cancel an event

Open **Manage event** to change the details and select **Save event**. Use **Cancel event** when the session will not take place. Cancellation clears existing RSVPs. If you later use **Restore event**, members need to RSVP again.

Tell members about schedule changes in an [announcement](/help/articles/community-spaces-and-discussions), and use your usual communication channel for reminders. Community events do not send those messages automatically.

After the session, add an approved recording or follow-up material to the [resource library](/help/articles/community-resource-library). Confirm sharing permissions at the destination before posting the link.
